Adolf Hitler

1944 – Adolf Hitler survived an assassination attempt, known as Operation Valkyrie, led by German army officer Colonel Claus Von Stauffenberg.

Bob Dylan

1965 – Columbia records released “Like a Rolling Stone,” one of the most famous songs by Bob Dylan. The song was part of Dylan’s album “Highway 61 Revisited”. “Like a Rolling Stone” is regarded as one of the greatest songs in the history of music.

Apollo 11

1969 – Apollo 11 lunar module, carrying astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, landed on the moon’s surface. Armstrong famously stepped out of the lunar module and onto the moon’s surface, uttering the famous phrase, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

Viking 1

1976 – US Viking 1 spacecraft landed on Mars. It was the first spacecraft to successfully land on the surface of Mars and send back images and data. The lander operated for more than six years conducting experiments to study the Martian environment and atmosphere, sending back thousands of images and measurements of the Martian surface and environment.

2005 – Canada legalized same-sex marriage, making it the fourth country in the world to do so, after the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain. The legalization of same-sex marriage in Canada was widely celebrated as a victory for LGBTQ+ rights and equality.
