Carl Friedrich Gauss – 1777 – a German mathematician and physicist who made significant contributions to a wide range of fields, including number theory, algebra, statistics, geometry and astronomy. Gauss was widely regarded as one of the greatest mathematicians of all time.
Eve Arden – 1908 – an American actress. She appeared in over 60 films, including “Stage Door”, “Mildred Pierce” and “Anatomy of a Murder”. She also played as Liza Hammond on the TV show “The Mothers-in-Law” and received an Emmy Award for her role as Granny in “The Paul Lynde Show”.

Cloris Leachman – 1926 – an American actress known for her role in a film “The Last Picture Show.” Her performance earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In addition to her film work, Leachman appeared in numerous TV shows, including “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “Phyllis,” “Malcolm in the Middle” and “Dancing with the Stars.”
Gary Collins – 1938 – an American actor, best known for his roles in films such as “Angel in My Pocket” and “Hangar 18.” He also appeared in numerous television shows, including “The Wackiest Ship in the Army” and as the host of the talk show “Hour Magazine.”
Burt Young – 1940 – an American actor best known for his role as Paulie Pennino, in the “Rocky” film series. Young has appeared in numerous other films, including “Chinatown,” “The Gambler,” “Once Upon a Time in America” and “Mickey Blue Eyes.” He has also appeared in several television shows, such as “Law & Order,” “The Sopranos” and “Oz.”
Jill Clayburgh – 1944 – an American actress known for her role in the film “An Unmarried Woman,” for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Throughout her career, Clayburgh appeared in numerous other films, including “Silver Streak,” “Starting Over,” “It’s My Turn” and “I’m Dancing as Fast as I Can.”
Paul Gross – 1959 – a Canadian actor, best known for his role as Constable Benton Fraser in the television series “Due South”. He has also appeared in numerous other TV shows, including “Slings and Arrows”, “Eastwick” and “Alias Grace”.
Stephen Harper – 1959 – a Canadian politician and former Prime Minister of Canada. During his time as Prime Minister, Harper implemented various policies, including the introduction of a controversial crime bill, the establishment of a free trade agreement with Europe and the reduction of taxes.
Isiah Thomas – 1961 – an American basketball player and coach. He was a 12-time NBA All-Star and won two NBA championships with the Pistons in 1989 and 1990. Thomas was also named NBA Finals MVP in 1990. He served as head coach for the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks.
Adrian Pasdar – 1965 – an American actor known for his role as Nathan Petrelli on the television series “Heroes”. He has also appeared in other TV shows such as “Judging Amy”, “Desperate Housewives” and “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”. In addition to his work on TV, Pasdar has acted in films such as “Top Gun”, “Near Dark” and “Carlito’s Way”.

What happened in history on April 30th?
1789 – George Washington was inaugurated as the first President of the United States. The inauguration took place on the balcony of Federal Hall in New York City, which was then the nation’s capital.
1945 – Adolf Hitler committed suicide in his bunker in Berlin, Germany. On April 29, 1945, Hitler married his longtime girlfriend, Eva Braun, in a small civil ceremony in the bunker. The following day, with Soviet forces just blocks away, Hitler and Braun both committed suicide by gunshot.
1952 – Mr. Potato Head is 1st toy advertised on television. Over the years, Mr. Potato Head has appeared in numerous television shows, movies, and commercials, and has become a beloved and iconic figure in pop culture.
1989 – the World Wide Web (WWW) was first launched in the public domain. It was created by British computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee while working at the European Organization for Nuclear Research in Switzerland. He developed a protocol for transmitting hypertext documents over the internet, which became known as the World Wide Web.
1992 – the final episode of “The Cosby Show” was aired. The show ran for eight seasons and was one of the most popular and successful sitcoms of its time. The series focused on the Huxtable family, an upper-middle-class African American family living in Brooklyn, New York, and dealt with issues such as family dynamics, parenting, relationships, and social issues.
1997 – Ellen DeGeneres publicly declared that she was gay on episode of her sitcom “Ellen,” titled “The Puppy Episode.” The episode, which was a two-part special, marked the first time that a lead character on a prime-time television show came out as gay.
2004 – “Mean Girls”, teen comedy film written by Tina Fey released. The film stars Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried, and is known for its satirical take on high school social cliques.
2008 – David Blaine sets a new Guinness World Record for holding his breath underwater for 17 minutes 4 seconds on “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. He broke the previous record of 16 minutes and 32 seconds set by Swiss freediver Peter Colat in 2007.
2009 – Chrysler filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company faced financial difficulties due to declining sales and the global financial crisis. As part of the bankruptcy process, Chrysler underwent a restructuring and was ultimately acquired by Italian automaker Fiat.

There have been several studies conducted by professional cheesemakers to explore whether music can affect the taste of cheese.
