Despite accounting for only about 2% of the body’s weight, the brain consumes about 20% of the body’s oxygen and 25% of the body’s glucose (a type of sugar used for energy). The brain uses this oxygen and glucose to power its cells, which are responsible for processing information and controlling bodily functions.
A fly can process information and see movement at a considerably faster rate than humans. While humans can generally detect movement at a rate of about 16 to 20 frames per second, flies can detect movement at a rate of up to 300 frames per second.
Horses have just one bone fewer than humans. On average, adult humans have 206 bones in their body, while horses have around 205 bones. We have more bones when we are born, about 300 but some of these bones fuse together as we get older.
