Cyd Charisse – 1922 – an American dancer and actress. Some of her most famous films include “Singin’ in the Rain”, “The Band Wagon” and “Silk Stockings”. In addition to her work in musicals, Charisse also appeared in films such as “The Wild North” and “Two Weeks in Another Town”.
Ralph Baer – 1922 – a German-American inventor and engineer who is often referred to as the “father of video games”. In the late 1960s, Baer developed the first prototype of what would become the Magnavox Odyssey, the first home video game console. The Odyssey was released in 1972 and paved the way for the video game industry as we know it today.
Sean McClory – 1924 – an Irish actor. His most famous films include “The Quiet Man”, “Them!” and “The Longest Day”. He also worked extensively in television, appearing on shows such as “Gunsmoke,” “Bonanza” and “The Wild Wild West.”

1971 – Joe Frazier beat Muhammad Ali, in a highly anticipated boxing match that was billed as the “Fight of the Century.” The fight took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City and was watched by millions of people around the world. Frazier won the fight by unanimous decision after 15 rounds of intense boxing.
1973 – The Eisenhower Tunnel, which is located in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and is the highest vehicular tunnel in the world, opened to traffic. The tunnel is over 1.7 miles long and reaches a maximum elevation of 11,158 feet above sea level.
1974 – Charles de Gaulle Airport, also known as Roissy Airport, opened in Paris. The airport is one of the busiest in Europe, serving millions of passengers each year.
1996 – The movie “Fargo” was released in the United States. The movie was a critical and commercial success, winning several awards, including two Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress for Frances McDormand’s performance as Marge Gunderson.
