What happened in history on November 27th?
1895 – Alfred Nobel signed his will establishing the Nobel Prize. In his will, Nobel, the Swedish inventor and industrialist (most famous for inventing dynamite), allocated the majority of his fortune to create the prizes. The Nobel Prizes were first awarded in 1901, five years after his death in 1896, as it took time to organize the trust and the awarding bodies.

1910 – New York’s Pennsylvania Station (Penn Station) officially opened.
1924 – The first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was held on in New York City. This inaugural parade was a huge success, drawing a crowd of over 250,000 people, and it became an annual tradition. Balloons, now a hallmark of the parade, were introduced a few years later in 1927.
