Malcolm X – 1925 – an American civil rights activist and leader. He was a prominent figure in the Nation of Islam, a Black nationalist and separatist organization, during the 1950s and early 1960s.
Colin Chapman – 1928 – a British engineer and founder of the Lotus car company. Under his leadership, Lotus became known for their lightweight, high-performance cars, which were highly successful in motorsport including Formula One racing.
David Hartman – 1935 – an American journalist and television personality, best known as the host of ABC’s “Good Morning America” from 1975 to 1987.
James Fox – 1939 – a British actor best known for his roles in films such as “Performance,” “The Servant,” “A Passage to India,” “The Russia House” and “The Remains of the Day.” He has also appeared in numerous television productions, including “The Prince and the Pauper” and “Penny Dreadful.”
Nora Ephron – 1941 – an American writer and filmmaker. She wrote the screenplay for the films “When Harry Met Sally”, “Sleepless in Seattle” and “You’ve Got Mail”. She also wrote and directed several films, including “This Is My Life”, “Mixed Nuts” and “Julie & Julia”.
Pete Townshend – 1945 – an English musician, best known as the lead guitarist and primary songwriter for the rock band The Who, which he co-founded in 1964. He wrote many of The Who’s most iconic songs including “My Generation,” “Pinball Wizard,” “Won’t Get Fooled Again” and “Baba O’Riley.”
André the Giant – 1946 – a French professional wrestler and actor. He was known for his immense size, standing at over 7 feet tall and weighing over 500 pounds. Outside of wrestling, André also appeared in several movies, including “The Princess Bride” and “Conan the Destroyer.”
Grace Jones – 1948 – a Jamaican singer, supermodel and actress. Jones released several successful albums, including “Nightclubbing” and “Slave to the Rhythm.” She was also one of the first black models to achieve international success, working with fashion designers such as Yves Saint Laurent and Jean-Paul Goude. Jones appeared in several films, including “Conan the Destroyer” and the James Bond film “A View to a Kill.”
Joseph “Dusty” Hill – 1949 – an American musician best known as the bassist and co-vocalist for the rock band ZZ Top. He was also known for his distinctive singing voice and contributed vocals to many of the band’s hit songs, including “Tush,” “Gimme All Your Lovin'” and “Sharp Dressed Man.”
Polly Walker – 1966 – an English actress best known for her roles in television series such as “Rome” and “Line of Duty,” as well as films such as “Patriot Games” and “Clash of the Titans.” In addition to her work on television, Walker has also appeared in several films, including “Emma,” “The Gambler” and “John Carter.”
Kevin Garnett – 1976 – an American basketball player, considered one of the greatest power forwards of all time. Garnett won NBA championship with Boston Celtics in 2008. He retired from the NBA in 2016 after 21 seasons, during which he was named an All-Star 15 times and won the NBA MVP award in 2004.
Drew Fuller – 1980 – an American actor best known for his roles in the television series “Charmed” and “Army Wives.” Fuller also appeared in films such as “The Ultimate Gift” and “NCIS: Los Angeles.” I
Calico Cooper – 1981 – an American singer and actress, best known for her work as a stage performer with the heavy metal band Alice Cooper. She has also appeared in a number of films, including “The Muppets,” “The Devil’s Carnival” and “Let the Devil Wear Black”. She is a daughter of legendary rock musician Alice Cooper.
Georges St. Pierre – 1981 – a Canadian mixed martial artist, considered one of the greatest fighters in the history of the sport. St. Pierre is a former two-weight UFC champion, having held the welterweight and middleweight titles. He has also appeared in films such as “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Kickboxer: Retaliation”.
Eric Lloyd – 1986 – an American actor, best known for his role as Charlie Calvin in the Christmas comedy film “The Santa Clause” and its two sequels, “The Santa Clause 2” and “The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause”. He has also appeared in movies such as “Batman & Robin” and “Dunston Checks In”.
What happened in history on May 19th?
1897 – Oscar Wilde was released from prison. He had been sentenced to two years of hard labor in 1895 for homosexuality, which was illegal in Victorian England. After his release, Wilde moved to France, where he spent the rest of his life, mostly in poverty and ill health.
1962 – Marilyn Monroe sang “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to JFK during a Democratic Party fundraiser held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The occasion was a celebration of Kennedy’s 45th birthday. Monroe’s performance of the iconic song, which was written specifically for the occasion, is widely regarded as one of the most famous moments in American political history.
1982 – Sophia Loren was sentenced to prison by an Italian court for tax evasion along with her husband, the film producer Carlo Ponti. The couple were accused of tax fraud and evasion for failing to declare over $1 million in earnings to Italian tax authorities.
1997 – “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” premiered in the United States. The film was directed by Steven Spielberg and starred Jeff Goldblum, Julianne Moore and Pete Postlethwaite. It was a sequel to the hugely successful “Jurassic Park”.
1999 – “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” was released in the United States. The film was directed by George Lucas and starred Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman.
2007 – The documentary film “Sicko” premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in France. The film was directed by Michael Moore, and explored the shortcomings of the American healthcare system, as well as the differences between healthcare systems in the United States and other countries around the world.
2007 – “No Country for Old Men” film, starring Tommy Lee Jones, Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in France. The film won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Javier Bardem, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
2009 – TV musical show “Glee” starring Jane Lynch, Michael Morrison and Lea Michele premiered on the Fox network.
2018 – an American actress Meghan Markle married Prince Harry. The wedding ceremony took place at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England. Meghan Markle, became the Duchess of Sussex upon her marriage to Prince Harry, who is the younger son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II.
2022 – a 1955 Mercedes-Benz SLR coupe sold for $142 million – world’s most expensive car. The 1955 Mercedes-Benz SLR coupe is a legendary sports car designed to be a high-performance car that could also be driven on public roads.

A mailman named Ferdinand Cheval, built a castle in France. Le Palais Idéal is an 85-foot-long, 33-foot-high castle located in Hauterives, in southeastern France. Over the course of 30 years, Cheval collected stones and other materials during his mail delivery rounds, and used them to build the palace by hand.
The country of Liechtenstein has just one jail with capacity of only 20 inmates. The country is the fourth smallest in Europe with population of approximately 38,000 people, and its only correctional facility is located in the capital city of Vaduz. Any criminal requiring a sentence of more than two years is sent to prisons in Austria or Switzerland.
There are actually two identical Air Force Ones. The two Boeing 747-200B aircraft are known as SAM (Special Air Mission) 28000 and SAM 29000. The reason for having two identical planes is to provide a backup in case of any mechanical issues or security concerns with one of the aircraft. When the President travels on one of the Air Force One planes, the other plane typically flies a parallel route as a backup.
