Cheese’s Pizza Time Theatre chain in 1977.

Motoscope

1861 – The Kinematoscope a.k.a. Motoscope was patented. It was an early motion picture exhibition device that allowed one viewer at a time to watch short films through a peephole viewer. It was one of the first commercially successful methods of showcasing motion pictures.

Giuseppe Verdi

1887 – Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Otello” premiered at La Scala in in Milan, Italy. “Otello” is based on William Shakespeare’s play “Othello” and is considered one of Verdi’s greatest works. The premiere of “Otello” was met with critical acclaim, and the opera has since become a staple of the operatic repertoire worldwide.

Enrico Caruso

1916 – The great Italian operatic tenor Enrico Caruso recorded “O Solo Mio” for the Victor Talking Machine Co. “O Sole Mio” is a famous Neapolitan song written in 1898, with music by Eduardo di Capua and lyrics by Giovanni Capurro.
