Lech Wałęsa

Lech Wałęsa – 1943 – a Polish politician, trade union organizer and human rights activist who played a key role in the collapse of communism in Poland and the eventual fall of the Soviet Union. Following the collapse of communism in Poland in 1989, Wałęsa served as the country’s first freely elected president from 1990 to 1995.
