Helena Rubinstein

Helena Rubinstein – 1872 – a Polish businesswoman and cosmetics entrepreneur known as the founder of Helena Rubinstein Incorporated cosmetics company. In 1958, she sold her business to the cosmetics giant L’Oréal. This marked one of the largest business transactions in the beauty industry at that time.

Louis Chevrolet – 1878 – a Swiss race car driver and automotive engineer, best known as the co-founder of the Chevrolet Motor Car Company, which eventually became one of the most iconic American automobile manufacturers. The Chevrolet bowtie logo is said to have been inspired by a wallpaper pattern that Louis Chevrolet saw in a hotel in Paris.

St Paul's Cathedral

Christmas Truce

1914 – The legendary “Christmas Truce” during World War I took place. The truce occurred spontaneously on the Western Front, where soldiers from the German and Allied forces engaged in a temporary cessation of hostilities for Christmas time. Soldiers from opposing sides exchanged greetings, sang carols, and even played friendly games of football (soccer).
