Diana Nyad – 1949 – an American author and long-distance swimmer, best known for her historic swim from Cuba to Florida at the age of 64. On September 2, 2013 she completed the historic swim from Havana, Cuba, to Key West, Florida, without the aid of a shark cage. She swam for approximately 53 hours, covering a distance of 110 miles.
