Gordie Howe

Gordie Howe – 1928 – a Canadian ice hockey player who is widely considered one of the greatest players in the history of the sport. He played in a total of 26 NHL seasons, winning the Stanley Cup four times with the Detroit Red Wings. Howe also won the Hart Trophy (NHL’s Most Valuable Player) a record six times and led the NHL in scoring six times.

Bellevue Hospital

1736 – Bellevue Hospital, the first public hospital in the U.S. was established (still in operation to date). The hospital initially served as a small facility for treating the poor and marginalized members of society.

Eiffel Tower

1889 – The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France was officially opened.
