1922 – The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) was formed. The USSR comprised 15 constituent republics, with Russia being the largest and most influential. The Soviet Union dissolved in December 1991, marking the end of its existence as a political entity.
1957 – Elvis Presley received his draft notice to join the U.S. Army for national service. At the time, Presley was at the height of his fame as a rock and roll musician and cultural icon. Despite his stardom, he fulfilled his military obligation and served in the U.S. Army from March 1958 to March 1960.
1974 – “The Godfather Part II” movie was released. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, it was the sequel to the highly acclaimed film “The Godfather”. The movie, starred Robert De Niro as a young Vito Corleone and Al Pacino as Michael Corleone, was a critical and commercial success winning multiple Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
