Charles Duryea

1895 – The first organized auto race in the United States took place. The race covered a distance of approximately 54 miles, from Chicago to Evanston and back. The winning vehicle was a motorized carriage built by Charles Duryea and his brother Frank Duryea.

1974 – John Lennon’s last concert appearance, as a guest of Elton John, in Madison Square Garden in New York City. They performed three songs: “Whatever Gets You Thru the Night”, “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” and “I Saw Her Standing There”.

The Blues Brothers

1978 – Atlantic Records released “Briefcase Full of Blues”, the debut album by The Blues Brothers, a duo consisting of Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi. The album was recorded live at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles in September 1978 and became the best-selling blues record of all-time.
